FINANCIAL REPORTING LEADER
NORTHSHORE

Manager or Director Level | Greater New Orleans Area | Hybrid Schedule

This is an excellent opportunity for a CPA with SEC reporting experience who enjoys technical accounting, external reporting, process ownership, and visibility to executive leadership. The role may be filled at the Manager or Director level, depending on the depth of experience.

The company offers a hybrid work schedule, which is a meaningful differentiator in the local market, along with an attractive compensation package that includes base salary, short-term incentive compensation, and long-term incentive compensation.

Position Overview

This role will lead important aspects of the company’s external reporting and technical accounting function. The person in this position will be involved in quarterly and annual reporting, SEC filings, complex accounting matters, audit coordination, internal controls, and communication with senior leadership.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in public company reporting, U.S. GAAP, SEC requirements, and technical accounting. This is a high-visibility role suited for someone who can manage deadlines, review complex work, lead others, and serve as a trusted resource across accounting, finance, legal, investor relations, and executive leadership.

THE DETAILS:

  • Lead and review the preparation of quarterly and annual external reporting materials for a publicly traded company.

  • Oversee SEC reporting processes, including filings such as quarterly reports, annual reports, current reports, earnings-related materials, proxy-related information, and related disclosures.

  • Review financial statements, footnotes, supporting schedules, and disclosure documentation for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

  • Research and interpret technical accounting guidance and help determine the appropriate accounting treatment for complex or non-routine matters.

  • Prepare, review, and/or oversee accounting memoranda related to significant accounting topics, new standards, estimates, judgments, and unusual transactions.

  • Support complex quarterly and annual accounting areas such as stock compensation, impairment analysis, cash flow statement matters, insurance accruals, and other technical accounting estimates.

  • Coordinate with corporate accounting, FP&A, local controllers, and other internal teams to ensure timely and accurate financial information.

  • Support the consolidation and reporting process for domestic and international operations.

  • Serve as a key contact for external auditors and internal audit during quarterly reviews, annual audits, control testing, and special requests.

  • Help strengthen reporting processes, documentation, timelines, and internal controls.

  • Partner with senior leaders on accounting policy, financial disclosures, and external communication matters.

  • Provide technical accounting input during budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes, particularly for GAAP-driven estimates and non-routine accounting items.

  • Monitor changes in accounting standards, SEC rules, disclosure requirements, and reporting practices, and help implement updates as needed.

  • Lead, coach, and develop members of the financial reporting team.

  • Participate in special projects that may include ESG/sustainability reporting, process improvements, system/reporting enhancements, and other corporate initiatives.

WHY THIS OPPORTUNITY STANDS OUT:

  • For someone currently in public accounting, this could be an opportunity to move into a corporate leadership role with technical complexity and long-term growth potential. For someone already in industry, it offers the chance to step into a visible financial reporting role with a well-established public company.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA required.

  • Approximately 7+ years of progressive accounting, audit, SEC reporting, or financial reporting experience.

  • Experience in a public company environment and/or Big 4 or large public accounting background with SEC clients.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, financial statement disclosures, and technical accounting.

  • Experience with quarterly and annual reporting deadlines.

  • Prior exposure to SOX/internal controls.

  • Ability to research accounting issues and communicate conclusions clearly.
